Warning!
Not for the pure at heart!
Following the success of the last ‘Battle of the Organs’
we have just held the long awaited sequel.
It took place on Saturday 4th June 2005 at 7:30pm in the Bridgewater
Hall (Manchester) and performers included Wayne Marshall, David
Briggs, the Marcussen Organ, a Rodgers Organ, and one piano!
Hot air took on cool electronics, as these two great keyboard
virtuosos were pitted against each other. Wit and wizardry were
their chief weapons, in a programme of much-loved music and
comic banter. What's more, this time the piano was brought into
the fray; Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue as you've never heard
it before. The night concluded with a brilliant duo improvisation,
a party atmosphere that brought the season to a tremendous close.
Programme included:
- J S
Bach: Sinfonia to Cantata No.29
-
Tchaikovsky: Suite, The Nutcracker
-
Mozart: Overture, The Marriage of Figaro
-
Gershwin: Rhapsody in Blue for piano & organ
-
Dupré: Variations on two themes for piano & organ
- Williams:
arr. Marshall Star Wars Suite
-
Improvisation à 2
